In Transience? three individual portraits form one painting, similiar to a triptych, each of them dissolving into brushstrokes of paint and transforming into the portrait next to them. As one portrait seems to elapse, another one is being formed creating a bond between all of them. Through this, the illusion of seeing three faces is broken up, showing that really they are all just made out of the same substance: paint. It also creates a reference to the material world in general, where, everything being made out of atoms, transience as such doesn't exist, only transformation does.
